Cowboys and Ice Cream

Me at the Academy of Friends Gala, Taken by Fred DeBose, originally uploaded by AiYahh.

Ok, the story can finally be told.

It has taken me this long to get over the fact that Brokeback Mountain didn't win for Best Picture.

On the day of the Academy Awards, I decided to do something useful with myself and volunteered at the Academy of Friend's Oscar watching gala.

It was held in San Francisco's Concourse Exhibition hall and tickets went for $200 a pop. *OUCH*

So what would you get for $200, besides in the door. Well, as you can see from my picture, you'll at least get gelato. Along with that, there was some really amazing hot food and other goodies from all over the SF Bay Area. There was also a truly exceptional silen auction. I'm sad to say, I didn't win anything *sniff*sniff*, but I'm sure that the winning bidder really deserved that three pack of PORN DVD's that I was drooling over. Ok, I was drooling over the possibility of meeting the actor IN the movie. Oh well, it was for a good cause.

Speaking of causes. This shindig benefitted a bunch of AIDS organizations here in and around SF.

I did take some time before the crowd arrived and was able to take pictues of the live Oscar awards, here and here.

I saw this movie twice and cried both times.

Here's the quickie version.

Pup tents and horses,
Cold seeps past my thin jacket,
You welcome me in.

AiYahh!
