Brrr, Is it getting chilly in here?

Scary reading out of the VillageVoice. Under the current Patriot Act, the FBI can issue "National Security Letters" without a court order!

This goes directly against what the Shrub said about the Patriot Act not being able to take away our rights.

Without the court order requirement, the FBI can get any electronic information on anyone (blogs, organization memberships, isp accounts, etc). Then, using the information that they find, the FBI can apply it against some criteria that is decided by the FBI to determine if the person they are investigating is a terrorist. If the person is considered a terrorist, the FBI swoops in and takes them away.

blogging anyone?

I wonder what Toronto is like this time of year?
