May Day, May Day!

Welcome to May Day folks.

While you're going through your day, other folks are marching through the streets in protest of the U.S. Immigration policies. Which is kinda funny, considering that the lawmakers are actually trying to do something right this time around.

I've always thought May Day and the subsequent no shows at work and boycot of businesses, really silly.

I can understand the not showing up for work, that actually makes sense to me. Not that I would do it, because I need to pay my bills and can't afford an unpaid day off from work.

But let's take a look at the boycot a little closer shall we?

So what's happening here? People don't buy anything for one day. It shows that Immigrants and supporters, have real economic clout doesn't it?

Well, yes, in a manner of speaking.

What's really happening.

My boyfriend is having his weekly movie night at his house tonight and bought a pizza from Zacharies yesterday, to be heated up and served tonight.

I know for a fact that most people will do just that, stock up the day before, so they don't have to buy anything today.

That's just shifting one day's profits to the previous day. Not exactly effective.

After my boyfriend tried to get me to take the day off from work, he then mentioned that he was going to have his hair cut on Monday. I just gave him a look and said "You're going to BUY a service on Monday?"

I had to repeat it several times, till he got the message. He later canceled the appointment and said that yes, I was right and he was a hypocrite.

So here I am at work... yes I'm writing this while I'm at work. This is my form of protest (however small). I do not plan on buying anything today. I also did not stock up yesterday. I am going to spend my lunch hour knitting and drinking soy milk (that i keep stocked up regularly). Tonight's meal will be provided by the previously mentioned pizza.

I realized today, that I am running low on creme to prevent athlete's foot. Since I am not going to buy anything, I am going to have to make what little creme I have left, last until tomorrow.

I have to say though, that my tootsies are looking mighty cute (according to the hubby) *grin*

What is one Day worth?
Not much in the grand ole plan,
But priceless to us.

AiYahh!
